WELCOME TO WISCONSIN DIVORCE YOURSELF

THE PURPOSE OF THIS SITE

My name is Scott and I recently shared with a friend her experience of going through a rather time consuming divorce. It wasn't complicated, her ex was just fulfilling his role of being a jerk, I guess?
For her, hiring an attorney to handle the case was not even an option because the attorney's she contacted were asking between $3000 and $5000 down, and their billable hours ranged between $200 and $300 per hour. Suffice it to say that with the games her soon to be ex-husband was playing, her attorney fees would have been in excess of $5000, and essentially the end result would be the same -- entry of a judgment for final divorce.
What I ultimately discovered through her experience is that there is no one place for Wisconsin residents to get all necessary and relevant information when going through a divorce. As such, through this work-in-progress I am going to invest some time to create a one-stop place for FREE forms and FREE resources to accomplish a Wisconsin divorce. Through the comment section below I may be able to properly direct anyone facing any simple procedural hurdles, but that is about the extent of it. Because I am not an attorney I cannot provide legal advise, but I will do my best to point you in the right direction for FREE!

WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED

When I began my research for any and all available free resources for a Wisconsin Divorce, I was amazed at the number of places on the internet that charge fees or subscription costs for what are otherwise FREE documents! DO NOT PAY A PENNY for Wisconsin divorce documents, unless you want or need a service provider to complete the forms for you, otherwise you are being ripped off ! Moreover, if you have made the decision to do your Wisconsin divorce yourself, you are much better off completing the paperwork and documents by yourself so you have a working knowledge and understanding of what is going on. For example, what if the judge asks you why you answered a question on one of the forms in a particular way, but you are not the one who filled the form out?
Filling out the FREE forms is not that difficult and your at a greater advantage when you complete your own paperwork in the event that any given answer raises concerns during any hearing. Moreover, the fact that you will save yourself hundreds of dollars by filling the forms out yourself should prove to be inspiring.
Remember that this site is a work in progress and it is going to take a little time to collect and assemble the numerous FREE resources available out there, and effectuate my goal of having them all contained in one place. Ultimately, the only thing that you will need in order to utilize this site efficiently is:

1.) a computer with microsoft office 2003 or later; and
2.) the ability to download all necessary divorce documents to the hard drive; and
3.) a printer so you can print your forms once you have completed them.
